What is HMB?
HMB (β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate) is a leucine metabolite that helps counteract muscle loss. It is present in small quantities in foods such as avocados, citrus fruit, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, eggs and beef. HMB supports muscle health. (1-3)
Although leucine is found in food, HMB is difficult to get from the diet alone. It is also known that levels of HMB in the body, may decrease with age. Protect Wellness® contains 1.5 g Ca-HMB per serving, which is equivalent to consuming 50 eggs or 1.3 kg of beef. (4)

Several studies have suggested that the combination of HMB (beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate) and Vitamin D may be beneficial for promoting healthy aging and supporting overall wellness. In one study, this duo was found to improve muscle strength and physical function in older adults, while another study suggested that it could help reduce the risk of falls in this same population. Other findings have also supported the potential of HMB and Vitamin D in promoting bone health, immune function, and more. Together, these results suggest that the combination of HMB and Vitamin D could be a powerful tool in promoting healthy aging and overall well-being.
